Frequently Asked Questions

Can we help everybody?

We can help anyone who is motivated to making a lifestyle change.

Do you take insurance?

Insurance companies do not cover wellness, unfortunately. Anchor Wellness Center is a fee for service practice and payment is due at the time of service. We accept credit cards, checks and cash as payment. We do have payment plans for both our memberships programs and our comprehensive packages. We also offer outside financing for some of our services through Care Credit and Health Credit Services. This allows all who truly wish to improve their health to be able to work with us.

Why Don’t You Accept Insurance?

Dr. Minni does not participate in-network with any insurance providers. Unfortunately, when doctors participate with insurance carriers, they enter into a contract that allows the insurance companies to dictate what services will be supplied as well as how much the doctor will be reimbursed for that visit. As the costs of keeping a clinic running has continued to rise, reimbursement has fallen forcing most doctors to see more and more patients a day, keeping office visits very brief. We believe this is substandard care and does not allow us to practice the in-depth, expert model of Functional and Integrative medicine.

While we do not accept insurance, we are able to provide the necessary paperwork for you to submit to your insurance company in order for you to be reimbursed for out-of-network lab testing and services. Her practice is also ideal for those with high deductibles or Medical Savings Plans (MSA) or Health Savings Plan (HSA), as she offers discounted labs through special vendor relationships which may sometimes cost less than paying thru insurance.

Please contact your insurer directly to find out what your policy covers. We do not submit claims to insurance directly or call insurance companies directly.

How long is the program?

Functional medicine is personalized medicine. Program length depends on YOUR individual goals. Permanent positive change in health takes time. We do not prescribe to the band-aid method of conventional medicine or “a pill for every ill” approach. One or two interactions with the doctor does not create a continuity of care that is imperative for sustainable health changes or resolution of chronic conditions.

We work together to achieve success in reaching your goals. Some members come for a lifestyle overhaul-they may be suffering from chronic conditions and are looking to make a drastic change. This means implementing new lifestyle habits. For those individuals, we have to work together to put a sustainable system in place in order to achieve compliance and therefore, success. Others may be in a transition phase and just need a little extra help in completing one of the pillars of health. For those, we may devise a shorter program. After attending one of our seminars, and learning our approach to wellness, we invite you to schedule a wellness consultation with Dr. Minni.

Functional medicine is a not a one-size-fits all approach and it takes time to investigate root causes, make lifestyle and behavioral changes and assess the response to nutritional and supplement interventions. This is why our packages start at a minimum three to six month commitment level and grow from there. You as an individual are unlike anyone else, so each program will be customized especially for your needs and explained to you at the Wellness Consultation.

How many visits will I need?

This depends on the complexity of your problem. You as an individual are unlike anyone else, so each program will be customized especially for your needs and explained to you at the Wellness Consultation. We suggest at least a 6-month engagement, as we understand there needs to be significant dietary and lifestyle changes and time for treatments to result in significant change. Most clients work with us for 6-12 months or more, or 3-6 visits.

What’s Included in the Program?

Again it will be explained to you at the Wellness Consultation. It usually covers all doctor visits, lab tests, supplements*, nutrition classes, exercise classes, educational classes are included.

*For each individualized program, we provide a “bank” for your supplements.

Can Dr. Minni be my primary doctor?

Dr. Minni is board certified in Family Medicine.  She will be able to address all of your health care needs in the visit.  However, she cannot function as your primary care provider, at Anchor Wellness Center, in the sense the insurance determines this.  You will need to maintain a separate PCP for insurance purposes.  We are more than happy to work along side them as a consultant.

If you do not have a PCP, she will recommend one for you. She has worked with many of the excellent doctors who understand what she does and be willing to support you in your healing care.

Does Dr. Minni treat children?

Clients must be 18 years of age or older to receive treatment at Anchor Wellness Center.

Is Dr. Minni available for speaking events?

Yes of course. Dr. Minni has been participating in education and speaking for some time. It is her passion to educate the community and create an awareness of true healing and health and the empowerment each person has to remain healthy.

Will my medical Insurance pay for Lab Testing?

Most laboratory services provided by LabCorp or Quest can be billed directly to your insurance plans unless you have no out of network coverage. Some specialty labs may not be covered by your insurance plans. Please check with your insurance company regarding deductibles and reimbursement for out-of-network labs. It is the responsibility of each of our members and patients to understand their individual insurance coverage.
